Katie Nielsen is the newest addition to Catrina Maria Designs. Katie comes to us with over fourteen years in the hospitality industry, she will be joining us as she concludes her work on her Bachelors of Science degree in Recreation Administration at Sacramento State. Katie began working in the restaurant business when she was just fifteen. She has held all “front of the house” positions including bussing, washing dishes, hosting, serving tables, and is currently bartending. Although, Katie has had the opportunity to work as a manager, she has opted to broaden her scope and explore different sides of the hospitality industry. By concentrating on the event side of the hospitality industry Katie can really focus on her real passion.
Katie not only brings us years of customer experience but she has also obtained a certification in Wedding and Event Planning from Cal State East Bay extension program put on by the International Special Event Society. There she acquired an in-depth knowledge of researching, designing, planning, coordinating and evaluating weddings. She learned the many extensive dynamics of event and wedding planning.
Katie has also worked in the non-profit sector. She spent multiple summers living in the Sierra Nevada Mountains working at a summer camp planning and implementing activities serving kids with medical, physical, developmental and behavioral disabilities.
As the assistant wedding planner to Catrina Maria, Katie will focus on working with brides by assisting in the design of their wedding; helping set timelines, as a liaison between the brides and vendors and help organize all of the wedding details up to the wedding day. Expect to see Katie regularly running errands all over town for Catrina! She is eager to learn as much as she can about being an Event Planner and is excited to meet each and every one of you.
