One of the best ways to narrow down a theme for your wedding day is to think about what the two of you enjoy doing together. It could be travel, biking, watching classic movies or, as this couple chose, sailing. Wendy and Dale love to go sailing together, so they decided to have a nautical wedding day with a navy blue, white, and yellow color palette and lots of fun ship-themed details. They chose the gorgeous brick patio at Old Town’s Firehouse Restaurant for their ceremony and reception, and decorated it with navy blue linens, napkins tied with seashells, and floral pieces designed by Garden of Weedon‘s Suzanne O’Brien. A gorgeous navy blue and white cake was provided by Freeport Bakery, and Jenn Bartell Photography and Design was on hand to document the day. It turned out to be a chic, sophisticated event that truly reflected this couple’s personality and style.
Wendy and Dale’s day began with one of the most unique pre-ceremony “reveals” we have ever seen. On a dock on the riverfront, Wendy waited patiently with her back turned to the water as Dale arrived in a boat and walked up the ramp to meet her. What a unique idea and what a beautiful result!
Following their reveal, Bride and Groom walked around downtown Sacramento while Jenn Bartell snapped tons of lovely photos. Meanwhile, Catrina Maria Designs was back at the Firehouse, working with restaurant staff and florist Suzanne O’Brien to prepare everything for their arrival. Let’s see what the rest of their wedding day looked like…
Very clever theme and nicely executed. Great table cards!
Hiring and working with Catrina Marie Designs was invaluable and she and her staff assisted us beyond expectation. She provided us a tremendous variety of ideas to support our nautical theme; she was an incredible resource during the planning process and she afforded us the opportunity to truly enjoy the “day of” and not have to worry about a thing.
Cat met with us early in the process and aside from designing the table linens while working with both our florist (Weedon Designs) and photographer/graphic designer (Jenn Bartell of JennBartell Photo and Design) to ensure the perfect look for our nautical theme, she was an amazing resource for just about anything and everything. For example, a few days before our ceremony, I frantically contacted her looking for a nanny to assist with the many children who would be attending our wedding. Not only did she suggest the perfect person who assisted with crafts and kept the children entertained, but Cat had her staff purchase crayons, toys and coloring books to make sure our younger guests were having an enjoyable time.
Cat has the ability to make you feel relaxed assured with the knowledge that you are in good hands. Her “take charge” attitude coupled with her grace and confidence allows you to enjoy your day and let her “sweat the small stuff”!
We would highly recommend using Catrina Marie Designs and intend to have Cat assist us with our next big party.
Many thanks, Cat! You helped make our wedding celebration exactly what we were hoping for!
Best,
Wendy and Dale
